A Childhood Dream

Travelling on the Trans-Siberian Express was always a childhood fantasy of mine. It conjured up images of unknown places far away within a forbidden land, beyond the, then, iron curtain.

The Opening Up of an Opportunity

Much later in live, after the opening up of Russia to the outside world, I seized the opportunity to live out that dream.

Lost to the World Again

Little did I know that, soon after I completed my adventure, the world would be paralysed by the Coronavirus and then Russia would effectively become a no-go destination again, following its invasion of its neighbour, Ukraine.

The Content of this Post

This post sets out a detailed itinerary for that journey, showing:

• a map of the route of my Trans-Siberian adventure, from London to Beijing.

• a day by day itinerary of my journey, detailing where I stayed each night and the name of the hotel

• information about obtaining necessary travel visas and train tickets

• a series of photos taken along the way

In all, the trip involved travelling through France, Belgium, Germany, Poland, Belarus, Russia, Mongolia and China and took x days to complete.

The Itinerary

• the location of each overnight stay, and

• the hotel used each night.
