The ultimate rail and road trip starts on China’s east coast and takes in the Chinese cities of Huangshan, Nanjing, Xi’an and Xining, It climbs onto the Tibetan plateau to visit Lhasa and Everest Base Camp before crossing into Nepal.

Indonesia is a land of contrasts. Travelling from Jakarta to the island of Flores starts in a chaotic city but soon gives way to ancient temples, village markets, smoking volcanos, quiet fishing village, laid back beaches and glorious sunsets.
From jeepneys to Bohol
People ask why I travel. I reply because I can. Manila to Bohol is two hours by plane. However, by bus, local taxi and ferry it can take over three weeks. This is the story of such an adventure through Luzon, Samar, Leyte and Cebu.

Meandering down the Mekong
Ever since French expeditionaries first explored the Mekong it has attracted travelllers. Today, slow boats ply between Chiang Khong and Luang Prabang. Buses link to Vang Vieng, Vientiane, Siem Reap and Phnom Penh and river boats travel onwards to Can Tho in the delta.

An epic journey. Travel through Thailand to the border, seeing Pattaya, Trat and Ko Chang. Visit Cambodia, stopping at Sihanoukville, Koh Rong and Kampot. Enter Vietnam at Na Tien for Phu Quoc. Travel to the Mekong Delta for Can Tho and My Tho before finishing in Ho Chi Minh City.
Cruise the Yangtze and Li Rivers
Travel the Yangtze from Wuhan to Chongqing, passing through the Three Gorges Dam. On the Li river, between Guilin and Yangzhou, marvel at the limestone castes. End your journey in the southern cities of Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hong Kong and Macau.

Leaving behind Manila’s traffic is every expat’s dream. Flights are cheap and the contrast between city and Province is stark. Adventures range from visiting Rice Terraces in the north to relaxing in Palawan and Boracay in the south.
